About Melissa

Melissa has been teaching piano for over 10 years, and comes from a musical family. Her mom was also a piano teacher and was a mentor for many years. In high school, Melissa studied with Dr. Emma Rocco of Pennsylvania State University, who guided her to a love of Chopin and Brahms. At Otterbein University, she studied with Dr. Suzanne Newcomb who continued to develop her musicianship and eventually guided her early years of piano teaching.

While at Otterbein, Melissa earned a B.S. in mathematics and a minor in computer science. She worked as a math tutor throughout college and has always enjoyed guiding students to discover new concepts. After a short time at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for graduate studies in computer science, Melissa settled in Westerville, Ohio with her husband and baby and shortly after began offering piano lessons. Now a homeschooling mother of five, she is excited to be offering both piano lessons and math tutoring services, combining two of her greatest loves.
